| Rhinoplasty (nose shaping)
Improvement in the appearance of the nose can be achieved
through this procedure. Depending on the individual's anatomy
and goals, either an open incision approach or a closed approach
may be used. The open rhinoplasty technique involves incisions
on the central skin bridge (the columella) between the nostrils.
Incisions inside the nostril skin are also made. The open
rhinoplasty technique is indicated when significant work on the
nasal tip is indicated. The closed rhinoplasty technique
involves incisions made within the nose. Often, nasal breathing
problems are addressed at the same time as rhinoplasty.
